West Bengal CM Announces Jobs and Compensation for Families of Deceased BJP Workers

Kolkata, June 7: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has made a significant announcement regarding the families of BJP workers who lost their lives in post-election violence in 2021. After taking office, he pledged to support these families. During a meeting at the New Town Convention Center on Sunday, he revealed that by the end of June, appointment letters will be issued to one family member of each of the 315 deceased party workers.

In addition to the job offers, a one-time payment of ₹5 lakh will be disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The BJP made a concerted effort to gain power in Bengal during the 2021 assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah frequently visited the state for campaign rallies, aiming to secure 200 seats. However, this goal was not achieved, as the BJP could not even cross the 80-seat mark. The Trinamool Congress emerged with a clear majority. Following their victory, the Trinamool government was accused of widespread violence against BJP workers, with reports indicating that 321 party members were killed. Legal battles surrounding these incidents have yielded little resolution.

In the 2026 assembly elections, the people of Bengal granted the BJP a majority, leading to renewed hopes for justice among the victims’ families. The new BJP government is now working to fulfill these expectations.

After the political shift, CM Suvendu Adhikari visited Falta during the campaign and reiterated his commitment to providing government jobs to the families of party workers who were victims of violence. He also assured support for those who were attacked. This promise has given the families a glimmer of hope, although doubts remain regarding the timeline for job placements.

Now, with his latest announcement, Suvendu has confirmed that appointment letters will be distributed to one family member of each deceased worker within this month, along with the one-time financial assistance of ₹5 lakh. This declaration has brought relief to the families of the victims.
