New Delhi, August 26: BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok has responded to several issues, including the proposed CJP march on September 5, Ajay Rai’s fish feast event in Ayodhya, caste census, notices to TMC MPs from the Supreme Court, and statements from opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. He accused the opposition of lacking substantive issues and launched a sharp attack on Congress and other opposition parties.
Regarding the CJP march scheduled for September 5, Alok stated that every political party and organization has the right to organize protests, marches, or sit-ins in a democracy. He emphasized that there are established rules and laws for such demonstrations. Any organization or party that adheres to these regulations can express its dissent democratically. This is not a new concept, as everyone in a democracy has the freedom to voice their opinions.
On the controversy surrounding Ajay Rai’s fish feast in Ayodhya, Alok asserted that it is not merely an allegation; the entire event is reportedly captured on camera. This event took place after visiting Hanumangarhi during the month of Sawan. He accused Congress of being insensitive to Sanatan and Hindu sentiments, claiming that the party has become ‘masterful’ in such matters.
Alok referenced a previous incident involving Rahul Gandhi and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav during Sawan, highlighting that such behavior is not new for Congress leaders, who intentionally engage in these acts.
In response to opposition leaders writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the caste census, Alok questioned whether the opposition has any other role besides asking questions of the government. He noted that this is the first time a digital census is being conducted in the country, which could set a global benchmark. He suggested that the opposition fears its political standing will weaken once the census is completed.
Alok accused opposition parties of adopting a double standard, stating they talk about OBC, SC, and ST issues, yet fail to allow OBC leaders sufficient time to express their views.
When asked about the Supreme Court notices issued to 20 TMC MPs, Alok remarked that the Supreme Court’s decision must be respected by all. He stated that those MPs who received notices would respond in court and described the situation as a normal judicial process, asserting that political commentary is unnecessary and the court’s proceedings should be viewed as such.
In response to Congress leader Imran Masood’s claim that a narrative against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi is being propagated, Alok stated that there is no need for anyone to create a separate narrative against them. He argued that the statements and actions of opposition leaders naturally form a political narrative against them. He urged the opposition to reflect on Rahul Gandhi’s comments regarding Hindus, women, and various social issues.
Referencing remarks made by the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister regarding Rahul Gandhi’s statements, Alok questioned why comments about Hindus frequently arise in Gandhi’s politics, while he does not address issues related to minority women or other religions in the same manner. He accused Rahul Gandhi of deliberately targeting Hinduism and Hindu society.
On the claim by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav that the contest is solely between BJP and SP in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Alok challenged Congress to respond. He questioned why Congress is displaying political activity if the competition is only between BJP and SP.
Welcoming the Allahabad High Court’s ruling that hijabs are not an essential part of Islam, Alok described it as a historic decision, asserting that dress codes should be followed in schools, while religious institutions and minority educational establishments may have separate arrangements.
Regarding the BJP’s strategy for the upcoming elections in Punjab, Alok stated that the party is fully prepared. BJP workers and leaders in Punjab are enthusiastic, and the party has decided to contest the elections independently. He expressed hope that the people of Punjab would grant the party an opportunity to govern.
Alok expressed anger over an incident during the Ganapati festival in Mumbai, labeling it highly condemnable. He insisted that the administration must take action against those responsible. He stated that the administration is looking into the matter and such incidents should not be tolerated. He emphasized that maintaining peace and law and order during religious events is the administration’s responsibility.
