Mumbai, February 21: During the AI Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday, members of the Indian Youth Congress staged a protest. The BJP has criticized Congress over this demonstration, demanding an apology from the party.
Several Congress leaders have defended the Youth Congress‘s actions. Naseem Khan, a Congress leader from Maharashtra, stated that the protest was conducted democratically and was justified.
In an interview in Mumbai, Khan emphasized that the Constitution grants everyone the right to voice their opinions democratically. He accused the current government of ruining the country and making decisions under pressure. “What is wrong with the protest carried out by the Youth Congress members?” he questioned.
Khan pointed out that BJP leaders often make grand statements. He recalled that during the Commonwealth Games, BJP leaders labeled protests as nationalism, but when Congress protested, it was termed anti-national. “This will not be tolerated. If the government makes decisions against the people, farmers, and youth, Congress workers will raise their voices,” he asserted.
Regarding reservations for Muslims, Khan criticized the BJP’s decision to cancel them, calling it unjust and improperly executed. He noted that in 2014, reservations were granted to various backward communities within the Muslim society based on their socio-economic status, a decision upheld by the High Court at the time. Now, years later, the BJP has revoked this, prompting some organizations to approach the court. “Let’s see what happens next,” he remarked.
Khan also praised Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, for consistently respecting the Constitution and fighting against those attempting to undermine it.
