Jaipur, April 29: The census in Rajasthan will commence on May 1. Initially, citizens will have the opportunity for ‘self-enumeration’, followed by the enumeration of households starting May 16. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced this information on Wednesday.
In a message to the residents shared on the social media platform ‘X’, CM Sharma wrote, “The census for 2027 in our state is set to begin on May 1. From May 1 to May 15, 2026, citizens can participate in ‘self-enumeration’, and from May 16 to June 14, 2026, census workers will visit homes for household enumeration.”
He further stated, “Rajasthan is the largest state in the country by area. Census workers will travel long distances to reach your doorstep. Please provide them with accurate information, upholding Rajasthan’s tradition of hospitality. The correct information you provide today will help realize the dreams of a ‘developed Rajasthan’ and a ‘developed India’ tomorrow.” CM Bhajanlal also shared links related to the census in his post.
In a video message, the Chief Minister emphasized, “India’s 2027 census is not just a collection of data; it is a sacrificial fire that will determine the future direction of the nation. This is the foundation upon which government projects, resource distribution, and development reach the last person in society are built. The first phase of the census in Rajasthan will involve listing and counting houses from May 16 to June 14, conducted door-to-door.”
CM Sharma added that starting May 1, citizens will have the chance for ‘self-enumeration’, allowing everyone to participate in this national responsibility. He urged, “Cooperating in the census process, such as marking census numbers on buildings and providing truthful, complete, and clear answers to questions related to household enumeration, is a legal obligation.”
He encouraged residents to view the census not merely as a legal requirement but as an opportunity for social justice. “I urge you to provide accurate, truthful, and complete information regarding your homes and families, contributing to this great national sacrifice,” he said.
