Actress Srabanti Chatterjee Encourages Voter Participation in Bengal Elections

Kolkata, April 29: Voting is underway for the second phase of elections across 142 assembly seats in West Bengal. Actors and actresses from the Bengal film industry are actively participating in this democratic celebration, urging citizens to prioritize voting before any other activities.

At polling booth number 15 in Behala West, renowned actress Srabanti Chatterjee cast her vote alongside her parents and sister. The family appeared joyful during the voting process.

In a conversation with the media, Srabanti expressed her happiness, stating, “I came here with my family; we just exercised our voting rights, and I feel great. This is my hometown where I grew up, and voting here makes me feel wonderful. I believe the public will decide what kind of government they want next.”

When asked about the topic of change, she remarked, “The people of Bengal will determine what needs to be done. I don’t know much about change; the results will be out on May 4, so let’s see what happens.”

Meanwhile, actor Prosenjit Chatterjee also visited a polling station to cast his vote.

Speaking to the media, he shared, “Everything is going very well. The arrangements are functioning properly, and the voting process is organized, peaceful, and smooth. I am particularly happy because today is my son’s first time voting. He has finally received the right to cast his vote.”

He urged the people of Bengal to step out and exercise their voting rights, emphasizing, “It is our responsibility.”

According to the Election Commission, approximately 61% voter turnout was recorded by 1 PM. However, there have been reports of sporadic violence in some areas. Despite this, voting continues peacefully at other polling stations.
