Kolkata, April 29: Voting is underway for 142 assembly seats in the second phase of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee displayed her ink-marked finger after casting her vote.
Speaking to a news agency, Chatterjee stated, “Approximately 85 percent voting has already taken place at our booth. People have been coming out to vote since morning. This time, the process is peaceful because the Election Commission has deployed central forces, making TMC members think twice before acting. As a result, people are voting without fear. We expect a good turnout by evening.”
She added, “Very few people are left to vote. The process is proceeding smoothly. I believe the turnout will be higher than in the first phase. Everyone should exercise their right to vote. The BJP is forming the government. Bengal is slipping from Mamata Banerjee’s hands.”
Chatterjee emphasized that the public is determined for change, which is why more people are coming out to vote. The TMC is aware that the public has turned away from them and is leaning towards a BJP government. A higher voting percentage than the first phase is anticipated.
Criticizing the Mamata government, Chatterjee remarked that the public is realizing their struggles and understands that Bengal is moving away from TMC. Consequently, Mamata Banerjee is spreading false rumors about the Election Commission, BJP, and central forces, while the elections are proceeding peacefully.
Regarding the violence in West Bengal, she stated that it reflects TMC’s character. They are deliberately trying to disrupt the state’s atmosphere, but they do not realize that this time, such actions will not be tolerated. Central forces are deployed everywhere, and those who attempt violence will face action. Therefore, let the voting continue peacefully.
