Washington, April 29: President Donald Trump hosted a state dinner at the White House in honor of King Charles III. During the event, he addressed the ongoing conflict involving Iran and its implications for U.S.-Israel relations.
The tensions between the U.S. and the U.K. have escalated due to this conflict. Trump stated, “We are currently making progress in the Middle East, and we are doing very well.”
According to CNN, Trump reiterated that the U.S. will never allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, claiming that King Charles shares this viewpoint. He remarked, “We have defeated that particular enemy militarily, and we will never allow them to acquire nuclear weapons. King Charles agrees with me even more on this matter.”
Speaking at a joint meeting of Congress, King Charles highlighted the uncertainty faced by both nations amid conflicts stretching from Europe to the Middle East, with repercussions felt in both societies.
He referenced a recent violent incident near Washington, asserting that such acts of violence will never succeed. He reaffirmed the shared commitment to uphold democracy and protect all citizens from harm.
King Charles characterized the U.S.-U.K. relationship as rooted in shared democratic traditions, despite initial disagreements. He stated, “In fact, our countries naturally share similar thoughts.”
The King emphasized the strength of the U.S.-U.K. relationship, linking it to foundational legal and political principles such as the Magna Carta and English common law, which have contributed to American constitutional concepts like checks and balances.
He stressed the necessity for collaboration in the current global climate, stating, “The challenges we face are so significant that no single country can tackle them alone.” He called for both nations to strengthen their alliance rather than solely relying on past successes.
