Kolkata, April 29: In the lead-up to the West Bengal Assembly elections, TMC MP Sayoni Ghosh has launched a strong attack on the BJP. She asserted that the BJP’s claims of victory are merely superficial. Ghosh emphasized that the people of Bengal stand firmly with Mamata Banerjee, and the election results will clearly reflect this mandate.
Ghosh remarked that Mamata Banerjee, dressed in a white sari and sandals, is with the people of Bengal, who are walking alongside her. After casting her vote in Kolkata, Ghosh stated that the BJP must claim victory, as they cannot appear lacking in confidence. This is the same facade they have always relied on. The expressions on the faces of Bengal’s citizens indicate they are ready to bring Mamata Banerjee back to power. The sentiment among the people is clear: they stand shoulder to shoulder with Mamata Banerjee, and the results will showcase this public mandate.
Regarding the deployment of central security forces, Ghosh commented that the BJP knows how to craft a beautiful narrative to suit their agenda. She expressed support for fair and free elections, stating that there is no need for violence as the people of Bengal are with Mamata Banerjee. The current situation in West Bengal, with thousands of CRPF personnel present, feels almost like a war zone. Ghosh quipped that the only thing missing is the arrival of the Air Force and Navy, with tanks on the streets suggesting a state of conflict. The BJP has lost its grip, and Mamata Banerjee will fight and win.
Ghosh further claimed that BJP members are making every possible effort to infiltrate Bengal’s power structure. She accused them of misusing agencies, conducting SIRs shortly before elections, and intimidating voters. Tactics include removing genuine voters from lists and transferring officials, alongside deploying observers from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh who do not understand the local language or culture. Nevertheless, Ghosh reiterated that Mamata Banerjee, in her white sari and sandals, remains steadfast with the people.
