Vigilance Raid at Patnas Water Building Targets Engineer Over Alleged Corruption

Patna, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : A team from the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) launched a surprise raid at the Water Building in Patna on September 11, 2026. The operation caused a stir among officials and staff in the Minor Water Resources Department. This inspection was part of an investigation into allegations of disproportionate assets linked to Executive Engineer Rajendra Kumar, who is currently stationed in the Chapra zone and also oversees monitoring duties.

Rajendra Kumar faces accusations of accumulating assets exceeding 100% of his known income sources. The raids were initiated in connection with these allegations, creating significant commotion in the department. Initially, there was confusion among the staff, but they soon learned the purpose of the operation.

As of the time of this report, the search operation was still ongoing, with further details expected later in the evening. The vigilance team was examining locations associated with Kumar as part of the investigation.

Reports indicate that Kumar purchased approximately 75 decimal of land in Panvel, Mumbai, valued at around ₹1.75 crore. In addition to the Water Building in Patna, teams were conducting searches at four other locations across Bihar related to this case.

During the raid, the vigilance team focused on uncovering documents, property records, and financial transactions to identify any assets acquired beyond Kumar’s legitimate income. The sudden raid has heightened anxiety within the Minor Water Resources Department, as officials and employees await more information from the ongoing investigation.

The Bihar Vigilance Bureau maintains a close watch on government officials, particularly those suspected of holding assets beyond their known income sources. The bureau regularly conducts raids and investigations targeting officials suspected of corruption and disproportionate wealth accumulation.
