Beijing, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : As the countdown begins for the 2027 World Athletics Championships, Beijing has officially unveiled its logo, mascot, and theme slogan. The announcement was made on September 11, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the preparations for the event.
The logo, named “Ching Yue,” combines the Temple of Heaven and the Chinese character “Ching,” which is an abbreviation for Beijing. This design draws inspiration from Chinese calligraphy and reflects the city’s identity while capturing the vibrant energy of athletics.
The mascot, “Ching Yan,” builds on the design of the previous mascot “Yaner” from the 2015 World Athletics Championships. Inspired by the swift movements of Beijing’s swallows, it symbolizes the return of these birds every twelve years.
The theme slogan, “Every Step Counts,” embodies a spirit of determination, emphasizing that each step is meaningful and every effort counts.
In a video address, World Athletics President Sebastian Coe highlighted Beijing’s status as the first city to successfully host both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. He expressed confidence that the 2027 championships will meet the highest standards, delivering a memorable sporting event for audiences worldwide.
This event promises to build on the memorable moments from the 2015 World Championships, reinforcing Beijing’s proud history of hosting major sporting events.
