Petition Filed in Patiala House Court to Register FIR Against Sanjay Azad and His Daughter for Alleged Religious Insults
A petition has been filed in New Delhis Patiala House Court seeking an FIR against Sanjay Azad and his daughter for alleged insults to Hindu deities.

New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : A petition has been submitted to the Patiala House Court in New Delhi, requesting the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Sanjay Azad and his minor daughter, Nishu Azad. The petition claims they used derogatory language against Hindu deities and spread communal hatred. Advocate Amita Sachdeva filed the petition before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, urging the Delhi Police to register the FIR under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 196 (promoting enmity), Section 299 (hurting religious sentiments), and Section 353 (using criminal force against a public servant).
Sachdeva’s application states that after receiving no response from the Delhi Police regarding her complaint against the father-daughter duo, she felt compelled to approach the court. The petition alleges that posts made from Nishu Azad’s X account included offensive content related to deities such as Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Goddess Saraswati, and Goddess Durga.
According to the petition, these posts date back to 2023 and include claims that Hindu deities are “imaginary” and calls for the removal of Hindu religious texts. One post from November 9, 2024, allegedly referred to Hindu deities as fictional, while another from December 19, 2025, suggested blowing up Hindu scriptures.
The petition also mentions a post from August 18, 2026, that allegedly mocked the worship of Lord Shiva, labeling devotees as “superstitious.” Furthermore, it references a post from April 9, 2025, that purportedly used derogatory language against Goddess Durga.
Amita Sachdeva asserts that these posts have hurt her and other Hindus’ religious sentiments. Initially, she sought to register an FIR on September 5 at the New Delhi District Cyber Police Station under relevant sections of the law and the Information Technology Act. She has also requested the preservation of URLs, platform records, and other electronic evidence.
The petition calls for the Delhi Police to register the FIR, investigate the allegations, and submit an action taken report to the court, including the preservation of relevant electronic evidence and platform records.
