New Delhi, July 2: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan engaged with participants of the two-month internship program, ‘MP Lead Fellowship,’ initiated by Rajya Sabha member Dr. Ajit Madhavrao Gopchade. During the interaction, he urged the youth to become dedicated leaders with strong moral values in service to the nation. He emphasized that leadership should be measured not by authority, but by the ability to serve society with humility, integrity, and compassion.
Highlighting India’s civilizational unity, the Vice President stated, “India was one, India is one, and India will always remain one.” He encouraged the fellows to rise above regional, linguistic, and caste divisions, noting that India’s shared cultural heritage, from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari, has always united the country and remains its greatest strength.
Reflecting on India’s transformation from facing food shortages in the 1960s to becoming one of the world’s largest grain exporters, Radhakrishnan urged the youth to understand the hardships endured by previous generations and draw inspiration from the nation’s developmental journey.
Describing the fellowship as an ideal platform for career beginnings, the Vice President stated that these programs expose youth to the world beyond classrooms, enhance their confidence, and provide opportunities to engage with national leaders. He stressed the importance of merit and continuous self-improvement alongside opportunities. He encouraged the fellows to strive for excellence and contribute their best to nation-building.
Expressing confidence in the potential of the youth, he remarked that many of them would hold responsible positions in public life, administration, and the judiciary in the future. He said, “Who knows, one of you might even become the Vice President of India.” He motivated the youth to dream big and serve the nation with full dedication.
The Vice President underscored the importance of constitutional values, stating that democracy flourishes when citizens uphold both their rights and duties. He urged the youth to learn with curiosity, fearlessly take new initiatives, and remain committed to the broader national interest. He expressed belief that the ‘MP Lead Fellowship’ would prepare future nation-builders who will contribute to a developed and self-reliant India.
Initiated by Rajya Sabha member Dr. Ajit Madhavrao Gopchade, the ‘MP Lead Fellowship’ is a two-month internship program providing youth with firsthand experience in governance, public policy, and legislative processes. Congratulating the 40 selected fellows from over 5,000 applicants, the Vice President noted that 62% of them are women, representing various regions of the country.
