IISc Bengaluru Announces Recruitment for 21 Teaching Assistant Positions

Bengaluru, July 2: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru has officially announced the recruitment of eligible candidates for 21 Teaching Assistant positions across various subjects in its undergraduate program. The vacancies include 7 for the General category, 4 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 2 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 5 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), and 3 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

Among the 21 vacancies, there are 4 positions in Chemistry, 1 in Biology, 1 in Earth and Environmental Sciences, 1 in Engineering/Electronics, 1 in Materials Engineering, 7 in Physics, 3 in Aerospace Engineering, and 3 in Mechanics and Computing.

The online application process for the Teaching Assistant positions has commenced, with the final date for submission set for July 10. Candidates wishing to apply can submit their registration forms on the official IISc website before or by the deadline.

Applicants must possess a relevant postgraduate degree in Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geology, Environmental Science, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering fields such as Materials, Metallurgical, Ceramics, Polymers, or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with an M.Tech degree will be given preference.

The maximum age limit for applicants is set at 30 years, calculated as of the application deadline. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per government regulations.

Selection of qualified candidates will be based on shortlisting, tests, interviews, and document verification. The initial salary for selected candidates will be ₹30,000 per month, while those selected through the National Eligibility Test or GATE will receive ₹37,000 per month, along with additional benefits and allowances.

This recruitment at IISc will be on a temporary contract basis, initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on the institution’s needs and satisfactory performance, up to a maximum of five years.
