Allegations of Corruption Surrounding Ram Mandir Donations, Claims Hussain Dalwai

Mumbai, July 2: Senior Congress leader and former MP Hussain Dalwai has made serious allegations against the BJP government amid various ongoing discussions within the Indian coalition. These discussions include the Sakinaaka manhole incident, the Chembur school bus accident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s statements, the demand for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, comments by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, India-Pakistan relations, and preparations for the Uttar Pradesh elections.

Regarding the tragic death of a 60-year-old man who fell into a manhole in Sakinaaka, Dalwai expressed his sorrow, stating that such incidents are increasingly common. He criticized lower-level engineers for failing to provide accurate information to their superiors. “Officials only give orders but are unaware of the ground reality. Even after contacting contractors, no action is taken. Water accumulates everywhere. Corruption is rampant in the administration, leading to a lack of accountability,” he remarked.

Dalwai also condemned the Chembur school bus accident, which resulted in the death of an 11-year-old boy. “What fault lies with the parents? Regular pruning and safety checks of trees are neglected. Mumbai has become a death trap,” he lamented.

In response to comments made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy about BJP’s new president Nitin Nabin, Dalwai stated, “I am not sure. Nitin Nabin was brought in because he operates according to Amit Shah and PM Modi. He has no independence.” He described Reddy’s remarks about Mamata Banerjee as an internal dispute, emphasizing that the real fight is against the BJP.

On the demand for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, Dalwai affirmed, “It is absolutely right. They should be independent. Limiting their rights is entirely wrong.”

Commenting on Bhagwat’s assertion that people who migrated to India post-partition are not refugees but ‘warriors,’ Dalwai said, “Call them whatever you want, but treat them well. Those who have come deserve good treatment.”

He also called for the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan, suggesting that instead of ongoing conflicts, it is essential to form a federation involving India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, with India naturally taking the lead.

Regarding the Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the Ram Mandir donation case, which has been granted an additional 15 days, Dalwai stated, “The current government, not just in Uttar Pradesh but the entire Indian government, has been completely exposed. This is not just an 80 lakh rupee matter; it involves years of accumulated funds. Where has the gold gone? Land purchased for two crores was bought with massive sums of money. These are all scams. It is astonishing that even in the name of Ram Lalla, corruption is occurring. There is an attempt to spread falsehoods in this country, and these are all evidence of that.”

As discussions about seat sharing and strategies within the Indian coalition continue ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Dalwai noted, “Different political parties will have some debates. However, the elections will ultimately be conducted through the Indian coalition, and the BJP’s return to power in Uttar Pradesh is out of the question. They have committed numerous scams, including one related to the Ram Mandir.”
