
New Delhi, July 2: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan addressed participants of the MP Lead Fellowship, a two-month internship program initiated by Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ajit Madhavrao Gopchade, aimed at providing youth with practical experience in public policy, good governance, and parliamentary processes. During the interaction at the Vice President’s residence, he encouraged them to adopt ethical conduct and become dedicated leaders in service to the nation. He emphasized that true leadership is measured not by authority, but by the ability to serve society with humility, integrity, and compassion.
Radhakrishnan highlighted India’s civilizational unity, stating that India was, is, and will always be one. He urged participants to rise above regional, linguistic, and caste divisions, noting that the shared cultural heritage from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari has always united the nation, which is its greatest strength.
Reflecting on India’s transformative journey from facing food shortages in the 1960s to becoming one of the world’s largest food exporters, Radhakrishnan advised youth to understand the challenges faced by previous generations and draw inspiration from the nation’s developmental journey.
He described the MP Lead Fellowship as an ideal platform for starting a career, allowing youth to explore the world beyond classrooms, build confidence, and engage with national leaders. He emphasized the importance of merit and continuous self-improvement, urging participants to strive for excellence and contribute their best to nation-building.
Expressing confidence in the trainees’ potential, Radhakrishnan stated that many of them would hold significant positions in public life, administration, and the judiciary in the future. He inspired them to dream big and commit themselves to serving the nation.
Highlighting the importance of constitutional values, the Vice President noted that democracy thrives when citizens fulfill their duties alongside their rights. He encouraged fellowship recipients to learn with curiosity, embrace innovation fearlessly, and commit to the broader national interest. He expressed optimism that the MP Lead Fellowship would nurture future nation-builders who would contribute to a developed and self-reliant India.
The MP Lead Fellowship, initiated by Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ajit Madhavrao Gopchade, offers youth direct experience in governance, public policy, and legislative processes. Congratulating the 40 selected fellows from over 5,000 applicants, Radhakrishnan noted that 62% of the participants are women, representing various regions of the country.
