Delhi Minister Condemns Demolition of Historic Gurudwara in Pakistan

New Delhi, July 2: Delhi’s Environment Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, has strongly condemned the demolition of a 125-year-old Gurudwara Sahib in Farooqabad, Pakistan.

In a message on social media, Sirsa stated, “I vehemently condemn this act. The Gurudwara Sahib is a shared heritage not just for Sikhs but for all of humanity. Encroaching on Gurudwaras and damaging such heritage in Pakistan is a grave sin. The world must take notice and urge the Pakistani government to restore the Gurudwara Sahib.”

Earlier, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra criticized the demolition of the historic Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Farooqabad, questioning the silence of Aam Aadmi Party leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann on this issue.

He remarked that this is not an isolated incident, as attacks on Sikhs, Hindus, Christians, and their places of worship have unfortunately become a regular occurrence in Pakistan.

Malhotra emphasized that while the Indian government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuously strives to ensure safety and confidence for Sikhs and other minority communities, the Pakistani government has left its minorities at the mercy of extremist elements.

He stated that Pakistan has become a haven for terrorism.

The Delhi BJP President expressed shock at the silence of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, a week after the demolition of the Shri Singh Sabha Gurudwara, calling it utterly condemnable.

Malhotra also accused Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann of violating Sikh religious traditions and noted that the Sri Akal Takht Sahib has declared him anti-Panthic.

In this context, the silence of Mann and AAP National Convenor Kejriwal regarding the demolition of the Gurudwara in Pakistan is yet another example of their disregard for Sikh values and traditions.

Delhi BJP MLA and President of the Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board, Sardar Arvinder Singh Lovely, supported Malhotra’s condemnation of the demolition.

He stated that while Pakistan pretends to be a protector of minorities worldwide, it fails to ensure the safety of minorities and their religious sites within its borders.

Sardar Arvinder Singh Lovely asserted that the treatment of minorities in Pakistan and the destruction of their religious sites deserve strong condemnation.

He praised the Modi government for promptly addressing the issue, sending a strong message to the Pakistani government, and calling for the reconstruction of the demolished Gurudwara.
