Mother and Son Arrested in Murder Case Disguised as Suicide

Dharmari, July 2: In a significant breakthrough, police in Dharmari district have solved a sensitive murder case within just 48 hours. A mother and son allegedly killed a 23-year-old man during a dispute over money for alcohol. They then attempted to stage the scene as a suicide by hanging the body.

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Suraj Singh Parihar, the Birjhar police conducted a meticulous investigation. They relied on scientific evidence and the post-mortem report to unveil the conspiracy. Both suspects have been arrested and sent to jail.

The incident occurred in the village of Goji, under the jurisdiction of Kurud police station. On June 29, 2026, the suspicious death of 23-year-old Narsingh Sahu was reported. Initially, it was labeled a suicide, but a thorough investigation was launched following directives from the Superintendent of Police.

The post-mortem report revealed that the victim died due to strangulation and suffocation caused by a rope. Consequently, the police registered a murder case.

Through technical evidence, circumstantial clues, and witness interrogations, the investigation led to the victim’s brother Naresh Sahu (22) and mother Kamla Bai Sahu (60). During police questioning, both confessed to the crime.

They admitted that Narsingh was demanding money for alcohol. When they refused, a heated argument ensued, escalating into physical violence. In a fit of rage, they first strangled him with their hands, then tightened a coconut rope around his neck to kill him. To ensure he was dead, they also forced him to ingest pesticide. To conceal their crime, they hung the body and concocted a false narrative of suicide for the family.

The police have registered a case against both suspects under various sections, including murder, at Kurud police station. They have been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
