Bihar: Main Accused in Viral Obscene Video Case Surrenders to Police

Patna, July 2: The main accused in the shocking viral obscene video case from Gaya district, Bihar, was taken into custody by police on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Rehan. He had been evading arrest for several days but surrendered at the Fulwari Sharif police station in Patna amid ongoing police pressure and continuous raids by investigation teams.

According to an official, the accused decided to surrender after a thorough search operation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and increasing pressure, as he saw no way to avoid arrest.

A team from Gaya police has departed for Patna to take Rehan into transit custody and bring him back to Gaya for further legal proceedings.

This case emerged after an obscene video involving a young woman from the Banke Bazaar area circulated on social media.

Following the incident, the victim’s brother filed an FIR against Rehan at the Banke Bazaar police station, prompting the police to launch an extensive search operation.

Investigators were conducting raids at multiple locations to apprehend the accused, leading to his eventual surrender in Patna.

Vikas Vaibhav, Inspector General (IG) of the Magadh Range, stated that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in crimes that undermine women’s dignity.

He emphasized the police’s commitment to bringing responsible criminals to justice for such serious offenses.

The IG also mentioned that, considering the sensitivity of the case, the police will strive for a swift hearing to ensure judicial proceedings are completed as quickly as possible, allowing for appropriate punishment as determined by the court.

Police officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the inquiry.
