Uttarakhand Faces Rising Crime Rates, Congress Leaders Demand Accountability

Dehradun, April 1: Congress leader Shishupal Singh and MLA Pritam Singh have accused the Uttarakhand government of corruption, a shortage of LPG, and a breakdown of law and order, calling for an impartial investigation.

Shishupal Singh stated that Rahul Gandhi remains connected with the public. He expresses his concerns whenever he witnesses wrongdoing. Rahul Gandhi has consistently shown sensitivity towards issues in Uttarakhand, notably raising his voice on the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the paper leak scandal.

He emphasized that Uttarakhand has become a haven for criminals. Murders are occurring on the streets, throat slashing incidents are reported, bodies are found in sacks, and open shootings are taking place. The police administration appears to be a mere spectator. The government has lost control over law and order, even with the Home Department under the Chief Minister’s purview. Despite this, daylight murders continue unabated.

MLA Pritam Singh addressed the LPG shortage, stating that gas is becoming scarce in Uttarakhand. Lines for gas may soon form in the state. He noted that the law and order situation is completely shattered. In the assembly, they discussed the deteriorating law and order. The government claims to maintain a strong legal framework, yet unfortunate incidents of murder occur daily. The government has failed to curb the rising trend of drug abuse.

Recently, several BJP leaders joined Congress, prompting the BJP state president and Chief Minister to claim they were never part of the BJP. In response, MLA Pritam Singh questioned the BJP’s unease regarding these defections. He pointed out that the BJP’s anxiety is evident. Signs of change are emerging in Uttarakhand ahead of the 2027 elections. This is just the beginning; the BJP and the government will witness the unfolding events.
