Noida Labor Protest: Allegations of Illegal Arrests of Children, Petition Filed with Human Rights Commissions

Noida, April 29: A petition has been filed by advocate Subhash Chandran with the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights regarding the labor protests in Noida.

The petition alleges that during the protests, several children were arrested and unlawfully detained. Such a situation is unacceptable under any circumstances.

The petition demands the immediate release of all detained youths and children. It also calls for a fair and independent investigation into the matter. Additionally, it seeks adequate compensation for the victims of violence to ensure they do not face any further difficulties. The petition urges relevant authorities to take appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

Previously, a large number of workers from various companies in Noida united to protest, primarily demanding a wage increase. The workers claim that their current salaries are insufficient for their livelihoods, causing them significant hardship. They are requesting a raise to alleviate their financial struggles.

The protest escalated into violence, resulting in considerable damage to public property. In response, the police identified those involved in the violence and took action against them.

Following the protests, the government recognized the sensitivity of the situation and decided to increase the workers’ wages.
