Bihar Laborers Death in Delhi Sparks Political Outrage

New Delhi, April 29: The death of Pandav Kumar, a laborer from Khagaria, Bihar, has ignited political tensions in Bihar. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed his sorrow over the incident, calling it tragic. He has directed that the victim’s family receive a compensation of eight lakh rupees.

In a press statement released by the Chief Minister’s office on Wednesday, Chaudhary conveyed his deep condolences regarding the shooting incident in the Jafarpur Kalan area of Dwarka, Delhi, which resulted in Kumar’s death. He described the event as profoundly distressing. The Chief Minister instructed the Labor Resources Department to provide four lakh rupees to the deceased’s dependents and an additional four lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, totaling eight lakh rupees. He also prayed for the bereaved family to find strength during this difficult time.

On Tuesday, Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, criticized the BJP government over this incident. He claimed that Kumar was shot simply because he was a “Bihari.” Yadav pointed out that in the area of Delhi where this tragedy occurred, the local councilors, legislators, and MPs are all from the BJP. He further stated, “Not only that, the Chief Minister is from the BJP, and half a dozen ineffective central ministers are also from Bihar, along with the Lieutenant Governor, Home Minister, and Prime Minister. The BJP has become a bane for Biharis.”

In response to Yadav’s remarks, Chirag Paswan, the leader of the LJP (Ram Vilas), countered that such statements tarnish the state’s image. He accused Yadav of damaging Bihar’s reputation while traveling to other states and asserted that he has no right to use such language against anyone. Paswan urged the opposition leader to reflect on his actions, stating that these individuals are the ones causing the most harm to Bihar.
