Patna, March 6: Upendra Kushwaha, the National President of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, announced his nomination for the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, representing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Speaking to reporters, he expressed his delight at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also joining him in the Rajya Sabha.
After submitting his nomination papers, Kushwaha stated, “I have filed my nomination for the Rajya Sabha. It is a matter of joy for me that Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also be going to the Rajya Sabha alongside me. A total of five candidates have been nominated from the NDA, and I am confident of everyone’s victory. There are some formalities to complete for the elections, but the win for all five is assured.”
Regarding Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha, he said, “Nitish Kumar has served Bihar for a long time. Now, he will go to Delhi to further serve Bihar, which will benefit the state. I am particularly happy to have the opportunity to work alongside my elder brother (Nitish Kumar) in the same house. The experience he has gained while working in Bihar will now benefit us. Under his leadership, we will advocate for Bihar’s rights in the Rajya Sabha.”
On discussions about Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, entering politics, Kushwaha remarked, “We have previously advocated for Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics, and we continue to do so. However, the decision rests with Nitish Kumar, Nishant Kumar, and the JD(U).”
When asked about the next Chief Minister of Bihar, he responded, “Currently, Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister. Questions about the next Chief Minister should arise only when he resigns.”
Kushwaha addressed the discontent among JD(U) workers, stating, “It is natural for people to feel emotionally connected to the Chief Minister after being under his guidance for so long. There may be some discomfort, but there is no need for further comment on this.”
He also took a jab at Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav’s statement about Nitish Kumar being hijacked, saying, “Tejashwi Yadav’s ground has already slipped from under him. He keeps making statements out of frustration.”
