
New Delhi, March 21: President Droupadi Murmu extended her warm wishes to citizens on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. An official confirmed the announcement on Friday.
In her message, the President stated, “On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I convey my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens, especially to our Muslim brothers and sisters both in India and abroad.”
This festival, celebrated at the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, embodies messages of self-discipline, charity, and compassion for the less fortunate. She emphasized that it also conveys messages of love, brotherhood, peace, and mutual harmony. The President urged, “This festival reminds us to strive for the welfare of all individuals. On this occasion, let us resolve to assist those in need, promote unity and harmony in society, and contribute to the nation’s progress.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also conveyed his greetings to the public on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. He remarked, “Wishing everyone a joyful and prosperous Eid-ul-Fitr. May this festival bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all. Eid Mubarak.”
Meanwhile, security measures have been heightened across various parts of the country for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, as worshippers gathered for prayers on the last day of Ramadan. Religious leaders in India announced that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Saturday, as the moon was not sighted on Thursday evening. However, in Kerala, the festival was celebrated on Friday.
In Hardoi, Uttarakhand, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena stated that extensive security arrangements have been made considering the Eid-ul-Fitr festival and the ongoing Chaitra Navratri. He mentioned, “For today’s farewell prayers, we are conducting flag marches at various locations and have deployed police personnel at all mosques. The district has been divided into sectors and zones. There are no issues reported. We are also monitoring any antisocial elements.”
In Uttam Nagar, Delhi, a heavy police presence was observed following a directive from the Delhi High Court, which ordered local police and civil administration to ensure a safe and peaceful environment during the Eid celebrations. Tension has been prevalent in the area since the murder of 26-year-old Tarun Kumar during Holi celebrations on March 4.
