Udaipur, October 12 (Daily Kiran) — Passengers flying from Udaipur to Mumbai will now have to shell out significantly more, as flight fares on the route have surged by 80% to 120% under the winter schedule set to begin from October 26. In some cases, the one-way ticket prices have shot up by 150% to 200%, touching ₹20,000 for economy class seats.

During the summer schedule, the average airfare for this route ranged between ₹5,000 and ₹7,000. However, the winter season, which coincides with peak travel demand due to weddings, Christmas, and New Year holidays, has seen fares rise sharply — with economy tickets now priced between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000.
High Demand, Limited Seats Drive Price Hike
According to airline officials, the price surge is a result of high passenger demand, limited seat availability, and increased fuel costs. Interestingly, while the Udaipur–Mumbai route has seen this sharp escalation, fares on routes to Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru have either remained stable or seen only marginal increases of 20% to 40%.
The Maharana Pratap Airport (Udaipur) will operate seven flights daily to Mumbai in the winter schedule. However, due to lower passenger traffic on the Mumbai–Udaipur route, ticket prices in that direction remain slightly cheaper — though they may rise if demand increases in the coming weeks.
Airfare Comparison
-
Udaipur–Mumbai: ₹8,000 to ₹39,000 (Economy to Business class)
-
Udaipur–Delhi: ₹6,000 to ₹10,000
-
Udaipur–Bengaluru: ₹13,000 to ₹14,000
-
Udaipur–Hyderabad: ₹5,500 to ₹10,000
Airlines and Fare Breakdown
-
Air India is currently the only airline offering Business Class on the route, with fares ranging between ₹13,000 and ₹39,000.
-
IndiGo flights are priced between ₹10,000 and ₹23,000, while SpiceJet offers tickets between ₹7,000 and ₹15,000.
Passengers have expressed concern over the rising fares, saying it has increased their travel expenses considerably. Meanwhile, airlines have justified the surge as a seasonal adjustment due to demand-driven dynamic pricing and operational costs.
Winter Schedule Overview
Apart from Mumbai, the winter flight schedule from Udaipur includes services to Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Indore. However, Mumbai remains the most expensive route this season, particularly during December, when tourism and festival travel peak.
