New Delhi, July 22: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine conducted long-range strikes on several key Russian military and logistics sites, including oil storage facilities, on Wednesday. He stated that the objective of these attacks is to pressure Russia into pursuing diplomacy and peace.
Zelensky shared on the social media platform ‘X’, “Ukraine’s long-range attacks successfully targeted significant sites in Russia’s Krasnodar and Stavropol regions. This includes logistics hubs that supply the Russian army with drone parts, navigation equipment, and other essential supplies. Additionally, another oil storage facility was also struck.”
He noted that a tanker and four cargo ships from Russia’s so-called ‘shadow fleet’ were targeted in the Black Sea and Azov Sea. Zelensky expressed gratitude to all members of Ukraine’s defense forces for these successful operations, emphasizing that they are justly bringing the war back to Russian territory.
The Ukrainian President stressed the need for peace, stating that Ukraine has presented every possible proposal to the Russian side. He insisted that Russia should be compelled to adopt a diplomatic approach. Amid ongoing tensions, both sides continue to exchange attacks. Just a day prior, on Tuesday, Russia launched severe assaults on Ukraine. Zelensky condemned these attacks as violations of the rules of war, as they targeted multi-story residential buildings. These airstrikes resulted in numerous casualties and injuries in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Odesa.
Zelensky reported that a multi-story residential building was hit, causing fires from the first to the seventh floors. Emergency services are on-site, and rescue teams and doctors are making every effort to assist those affected.
The Ukrainian President has been consistently appealing for support from partner countries. He emphasized the critical importance of continued backing from these nations. The European Union’s 21st sanctions package should be approved, and assistance for Ukraine’s defense must continue. It is also vital that the manufacturers expedite the delivery of weapons and necessary equipment discussed with military and officials to combat Russia. Any help that can save lives must be implemented without delay.
