Lucknow, June 17: Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, has criticized the central government for its handling of the NEET paper leak case. He claims that the government has imposed a ban on Telegram to hide its failures. “This will not change anything; the public is aware of the government’s reality,” he stated.
In an interview with a news agency, Rai emphasized, “The government is trying to conceal its shortcomings. Incidents of paper leaks have occurred before, and merely banning Telegram will not solve the issue. This action seems like an attempt to cover up the government’s deficiencies. Ensuring transparency and accountability in the examination system is the government’s responsibility.”
Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent interactions with students and his social media posts, Rai noted that Gandhi has consistently raised the issues faced by students and youth. “Across the country, students and young people are expressing their concerns and frustrations. Rahul Gandhi is listening to them and standing with them,” he added.
Gandhi had recently posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Telegram ban – the government’s new tactic to prevent paper leaks. Instead of catching the thief, lock the door of the victim. The paper leak mafia is thriving under this government’s watch.”
Rai also questioned the three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the Ram Mandir donation controversy. He expressed doubts about the impartiality of SIT head Vijay Vishwas Pandya, who has been embroiled in controversies. “The investigation should be conducted under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge to ensure the truth comes out and public trust is maintained,” he insisted.
He alleged that there are numerous questions regarding the use of funds raised for temple construction and that a fair investigation into land purchase disputes is essential. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have taken note of this entire matter. The Congress demands a transparent and independent investigation to take action against the guilty,” he concluded.
