Bhopal, June 17: The political discourse surrounding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has intensified in Madhya Pradesh. BJP legislator Rameshwar Sharma asserted that the government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, is progressing towards implementing the UCC. He described this initiative as a significant step for national security, public interest, and population control.
Sharma emphasized that the UCC is not merely a law but a demand from across the nation. According to him, this legislation aims to enhance national security and provide equal benefits to all citizens. He stated that the UCC is a noble initiative, reflecting the aspirations of the entire country. Once enacted, it is expected to have a natural impact on population control. While many leaders have previously discussed population control, Sharma noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP government is taking concrete steps towards its implementation.
The BJP legislator mentioned that several states have already initiated the process of implementing the UCC, and the Madhya Pradesh government is also working diligently in this direction. He expressed confidence that significant actions regarding this matter will be taken in the upcoming assembly session under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s leadership. The state government is preparing for the legislative process related to the UCC, which, according to Sharma, will help foster equality and uniformity within society.
Amid speculations of a potential split in Shiv Sena (UBT) and discontent within the party, Sharma also targeted Uddhav Thackeray. He claimed that Thackeray no longer enjoys the same level of acceptance among his supporters. Sharma alleged that Shiv Sainiks feel Thackeray is not aligning his politics with the ideals and dreams of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
He pointed out that many legislators and MPs are gradually distancing themselves from Thackeray’s faction, aligning instead with ideologies they believe are closer to Balasaheb Thackeray’s original vision.
Sharma asserted that a significant segment of Shiv Sena workers and leaders feels more comfortable aligning with the BJP and its allies on issues of Hindutva and nationalism. He noted that this is why, over time, many representatives are leaving Thackeray’s leadership faction.
