Chengalpattu, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : Aadhav Arjun, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet Minister and election management in-charge, recently targeted the ruling DMK during a campaign rally in support of Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam (TVK) candidate Maragatham Kumaravel for the Maduranthakam Assembly by-election. Speaking in Chengalpattu, Arjun launched a strong critique of the DMK government.
He expressed initial doubts about entering the electoral fray, fearing whether they could file nominations or reach polling booths against a party with significant financial and muscle power. However, he emphasized that despite lacking financial strength, the votes from mothers, sisters, and the general public led to their victory.
Arjun asserted that the public ensured the DMK would sit on the opposition benches. He noted that his opponents had underestimated him, thinking he could only make noise. Ultimately, the same noise became a symbol of his party, allowing them to decisively counter the opposition.
Continuing his speech, Arjun urged that the strong voices rising from Maduranthakam should also be heard in Dharapuram, demanding a victory margin of one lakh votes in both constituencies.
He criticized DMK and Udhayanidhi Stalin, referencing a speech Udhayanidhi made the previous day in Dharapuram. Arjun pointed out that while their leader aims to build a legislative assembly for the people, the current ruling party, which once criticized others for trivial matters, is now doing the same. He remarked that those who sang praises while in power now complain when others do the same.
Additionally, he accused Udhayanidhi of making inappropriate remarks while standing next to a female candidate. He criticized the party’s evolution, noting how it has changed from being nurtured by Anna and protected by Kalaignar to its current state under MK Stalin’s five-year rule, after which the public decisively rejected them. He remarked that the current DMK is merely “Udhayanidhi’s DMK,” characterized solely by its use of vulgar language. Arjun questioned Udhayanidhi’s suitability to be the opposition leader, suggesting that while Kalaignar claimed no one could destroy the DMK, it now appears that the son of MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi, is enough to ruin the party.
