India and South Korea Strengthen Defense Ties at 10th Joint Committee Meeting

New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : A significant meeting took place in New Delhi on September 29, where India and South Korea held the 10th session of the Joint Committee on Defense Industry and Logistics Cooperation. According to the Ministry of Defense, the two nations reviewed ongoing bilateral cooperation in defense industries and logistics, discussing ways to further strengthen and expand their defense relationship.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both countries to exchange ideas on enhancing collaboration between their defense industries and promoting greater engagement in defense production and logistics. Co-chaired by Dinesh Mahur, Additional Secretary of Defense Production, and Kim Il Dong, Deputy Minister of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) from South Korea, the session was attended by senior officials from both nations.

Among those present were South Korean Ambassador to India, Seong Ho Lee, and Dr. Vijay Namdevrao Jadhav, Joint Secretary of the Navy Systems in the Indian Ministry of Defense. Representatives from major defense companies also participated, including Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) from India, alongside Hanwha Aerospace, Korean Air, Hanwha Systems, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and DS Navcourse from South Korea.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Kim Il Dong met with India’s Minister of State for Defense, Sanjay Seth. Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and deepening collaboration in defense industries and logistics.

This 10th Joint Committee Meeting reaffirmed the close and growing defense ties between India and South Korea, providing a crucial platform to advance bilateral cooperation in defense production and logistics. The Ministry of Defense shared images from the event on social media, highlighting the commitment to mutual defense cooperation and support for India’s Make in India initiative.
