Sanju Samson Crowned ICC Player of the Month for March, Celebrating Indias World Championship Victory

New Delhi, April 14: Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has been awarded the ICC Player of the Month for March. He played a crucial role in leading the Indian team to victory in the T20 World Cup, showcasing three remarkable innings during the tournament.

After receiving the award, Samson expressed his gratitude, stating, “Winning the ICC Player of the Month title is an incredible feeling, especially as it comes during one of the most memorable phases of my cricketing journey. Being part of India’s victory in the Men’s T20 World Cup truly felt like a dream come true, and it took me some time to fully grasp the significance of that moment.”

He added, “This is an exciting time for Indian cricket, with talent emerging from all directions. I am thankful for the opportunities I received and the trust and support from my teammates and coaching staff, which enabled me to perform at my best.”

Alongside Samson, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was named Player of the Match in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, and South African batsman Connor Esterhuizen were also nominated for the Player of the Month award. However, Samson triumphed over both to claim the title.

In the T20 World Cup 2026, Sanju Samson delivered three consecutive match-winning performances, leading the team to championship glory. He scored an unbeaten 97 runs against the West Indies in the quarter-finals, propelling India into the semi-finals. He followed this with innings of 89 runs against England in the semi-finals and another 89 runs in the final against New Zealand. His outstanding contributions earned him the Player of the Series title.
