RJD Legislator Bhai Virendra Calls for Major Organizational Changes After Bankipur By-Election Loss

Patna, August 4: RJD legislator Bhai Virendra has demanded deep introspection within the party following its poor performance in the Bankipur by-election. He emphasized the need for the party to rebuild its organization and reconnect with voters at the grassroots level.

Discussing the party’s current situation, Bhai Virendra suggested that some individuals close to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav should be removed. He claims these leaders have become unpopular among the public.

He stated, “There are some people around Tejashwi Yadav who need to be removed. The public is upset with them and even uses unparliamentary language against them. We must rebuild the party from the ground up, engage with the people, and connect with them. We believe we made a significant mistake.”

Bhai Virendra also offered his interpretation of the Bankipur results, asserting that they reflect public discontent with the BJP and NDA.

He noted that some traditional RJD voters may have supported Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, believing him to be the strongest candidate capable of defeating the BJP in this seat.

According to him, the voting pattern should not be viewed solely as a rejection of the RJD. Instead, he argued that the party should assess why its traditional supporters felt compelled to vote for another candidate.

The RJD legislator called for a comprehensive review of the party’s organizational structure and political strategy.

He remarked, “The party had placed trust in certain individuals, but some of them did not live up to that trust. Therefore, their roles and responsibilities should be reassessed.”

Bhai Virendra insisted that capable, committed, and hardworking leaders should be brought into the party’s mainstream and kept close to the top leadership.

He also dismissed the argument from some JD(U) leaders that if former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had actively campaigned during the elections, the BJP could have avoided defeat in Bankipur.

Disagreeing with this assessment, he stated that Nitish Kumar has played a significant role in strengthening the BJP’s political position in Bihar.

According to Bhai Virendra, Nitish Kumar’s political partnership has facilitated the BJP’s expansion in the state. He also made serious allegations against the former chief minister, claiming that corruption peaked in Bihar during Kumar’s tenure.

Bhai Virendra’s statements indicate a growing debate within the RJD regarding organization, leadership, and electoral strategy following the loss in Bankipur. His call for an internal review may increase pressure on party leadership to reconsider its strategy ahead of future electoral contests.
