Aizawl, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : Mizoram’s Chief Minister, Lalduhoma, has directed officials to rigorously utilize legal provisions to detect and prevent corruption and other malpractices. Speaking at a training workshop on the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, held by the Vigilance Department in Aizawl, he urged authorities to conduct investigations without fear or bias.
Lalduhoma highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination and instructed all government departments to provide full support in this endeavor. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to establishing a transparent and clean government, noting that steps have been taken to strengthen the Lokayukta. New vehicle purchases for the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have been approved, along with vehicle allowances for Lokayukta investigation officers.
The Chief Minister also announced that due to financial difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, special incentive allowances would be provided to ACB personnel and Lokayukta investigation officers. He stated that necessary funds have been allocated for anti-corruption campaigns.
Despite the significant infrastructural and material support provided, Lalduhoma stressed that the skills, intelligence, and dedication of personnel are paramount. This is why the Vigilance Department organized the training workshop, he explained. He urged investigation officials to use the broad powers granted by law responsibly to expose corruption and misconduct.
Acknowledging the good work of officials, the Chief Minister pointed out that many investigations and cases remain pending, encouraging them to continue their best efforts. He also commended the Vigilance Department for organizing the program.
In his address, Chief Secretary and Chief Vigilance Officer Khilli Ram Meena outlined the workshop’s objectives, stating that enhancing the skills of anti-corruption personnel would boost their capacity, facilitate quicker actions, and promote greater motivation and teamwork.
