Father-Son Duo Suspended from Congress for Six Years Following Attack on Bikaners District President

Jaipur, September 3: The political landscape in Bikaner, Rajasthan, has taken a dramatic turn following an attack on Congress District President Madan Gopal Meghwal. The party has suspended a father-son duo for six years in connection with the incident. Additionally, an investigation has been ordered into the alleged involvement of Shashikala Rathore, a leader of the Women’s Congress.

The attack occurred during the inauguration of an election office in Ward Number 50 on Wednesday, sparking political turmoil within the Congress party in Bikaner.

This incident has exposed internal rifts within the party. In response to the attack, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has acted swiftly, suspending the father-son duo with immediate effect for a period of six years.

The situation escalated when Meghwal filed a written complaint alleging that Shashikala Rathore, the President of the Bikaner Municipal Women’s Congress, was part of a conspiracy behind the attack.

Meghwal claims that Rathore was involved in the events surrounding the assault. These allegations remain unproven, and Rathore has yet to publicly respond.

Following the complaint, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee instructed Sarika Singh, the state president of the Women’s Congress, to investigate Rathore’s alleged role.

Singh has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation and submit her report to the PCC headquarters within two days. Further disciplinary action will depend on the investigation’s findings, with any potential actions against Rathore contingent on the results.

It is noteworthy that Shashikala Rathore has been an active member of the organization for many years and currently serves as the District President of the Bikaner Municipal Women’s Congress. Before taking on this role, she was the President of the Bikaner Rural Women’s Congress. In July 2025, during an organizational reshuffle, she was appointed as the President of the Bikaner City Women’s Congress by Sarika Singh, the state president. Rathore formally assumed her position during the Nari Nyaya Conference in September 2025.
