Assam Chief Minister Sarma Voices Support for Jharkhand Students Amid Recruitment Exam Irregularities

Guwahati, August 4: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his support for the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand regarding alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. He accused the ruling JMM-Congress-RJD coalition of failing to address the students’ complaints transparently and promptly.

In a post on the social media platform X, CM Sarma stated that during the Jharkhand assembly election campaign, he closely observed the concerns of recruitment candidates and believes their demands should be heard fairly.

Sarma remarked, “During the Jharkhand assembly elections, I had the opportunity to witness the pain, anger, and concerns of JSSC-CGL candidates regarding the recruitment process.”

He emphasized that if the Jharkhand government had acted swiftly on the complaints raised by candidates, the current unrest could have been avoided.

According to him, a sensitive and transparent response from the state administration would help restore candidates’ trust.

He further alleged that the ongoing accusations of irregularities and question paper leaks have left many young job seekers in the state with an uncertain future.

Sarma stated, “Unfortunately, the allegations of irregularities and paper leaks are continuously increasing, and today millions of youths’ futures are at risk.”

While offering his “moral support” to the protesting students, the Assam Chief Minister urged the Jharkhand government to acknowledge their legitimate demands and ensure justice.

He said, “I express my moral support for the just movement of Jharkhand’s students and youth, and I urge the state government to immediately accept the students’ rightful demands and deliver justice. Injustice to the youth’s future is unacceptable at any cost.”

CM Sarma’s statement comes amid ongoing protests in Ranchi, where students are demonstrating against alleged irregularities in exams conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.

Protesters are demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC Combined Preliminary Examination held on April 19 and are calling for an independent investigation by central agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate, into the alleged irregularities in the state’s recruitment process.
