Shekhawati, June 27: An awareness rally was held in Shekhawati on Sunday, marking the lead-up to the National Pulse Polio Campaign. The initiative aims to administer polio drops to 316,000 children. Key officials, including Additional District Collector Ratan Kumar Swami and Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Ashok Maharia, participated in the event alongside nursing students.
In a conversation with reporters, Ratan Kumar Swami announced that the National Pulse Polio Campaign will commence on June 28 and run for three days. A total of 3,200 booths have been established across the district, with special arrangements made at bus stands and railway stations. The Medical and Health Department has completed all preparations and deployed staff for the campaign. Children aged from birth to five years will receive the polio drops during this period.
Dr. Ashok Maharia emphasized the importance of raising awareness at both district and block levels through the rally. He noted that the country has made significant progress in eradicating polio, but the virus still exists in neighboring countries. Over 3,000 booths will be operational in Shekhawati, targeting more than 300,000 children for vaccination.
Nursing student Varsha expressed the collective effort to raise awareness about the national polio program. The campaign will run from June 28 to July 1, and she urged the community to ensure that children under five receive the vital “two drops of life.”
First-year ANM student Karun Kanwar highlighted that this program is essential for administering polio drops. While polio has been eradicated in the country, the initiative aims to prevent any future outbreaks among children. She called for community cooperation to support the campaign.
