New Delhi, August 30: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has postponed the NEET PG 2026 exam at the ION Digital Zone center in Sitapura, Jaipur, following a disruption caused by a power failure. The exam will now take place again on September 5. NBEMS President Dr. Abhijat Seth expressed regret over the incident, stating that a total of 263,535 candidates successfully completed the exam.
Dr. Seth stated, “I am saddened to inform you that an incident occurred at the Sitapura center in Jaipur, where 2,445 candidates were unable to complete their exam due to an internal power failure. This was a regular TCS center where examinations are typically held.”
He further noted that a mock test had been conducted at the same center under the same computer load the previous day, which had been successful. However, regardless of the cause, candidates were unable to finish their exams today due to the internal power failure.
Dr. Seth added, “The NEET PG exam took place today, with 265,980 candidates participating across 339 cities and 1,111 centers. Overall, 263,535 candidates completed the exam successfully. There were no reports of hacking, cyber concerns, cheating, or any other serious issues. More than 263,000 candidates completed the exam without interruptions.”
Addressing the issue of disruptions during the NEET PG exam, Finance Commission Chairman Arun Chaturvedi remarked, “There were some technical difficulties. The government should be commended for taking prompt action and making decisions in response to such incidents. Discussions regarding the Jaipur division are ongoing. Meetings were held yesterday regarding two districts in Alwar, and today, each district is being called for discussions. By this evening, all candidates from Jaipur and the entire Jaipur division will be consulted. There are no interruptions. The party is simply studying the survey results and engaging in discussions and consultations.”
One student recounted, “The issue was that when we entered the exam hall in the morning, the server crashed, causing the computers to shut down repeatedly. This happened about seven or eight times. Consequently, 25 to 30 questions were leaked, and students gathered to discuss the questions. Then, we were assured not to leave, as the exam would still be conducted here.”
Another student mentioned that they were being scanned and thoroughly checked at different locations, which gave the impression that security measures were stringent and the exam would proceed correctly. However, the first issue arose when our registration was not processed correctly. The exam was supposed to start at 9 AM, but it was already 10:30 AM. After that, the computers shut down so many times; mine shut down 15 times. During this time, I logged in twice. If one candidate leaked even 10 questions, that means 40 questions were compromised for us.”
A female student expressed, “I want the NEET PG exam to be conducted again at an all-India level. If there is no transparency in the NEET PG exam, we cannot expect improvements in India’s healthcare system.”
During the NEET PG 2026 exam held at the ION Digital Zone center in Sitapura, Jaipur, candidates faced significant difficulties due to power supply disruptions. Frustrated candidates and their families protested outside the examination center, demanding accountability from the center’s administration regarding the power supply issues. Candidates also filed objections regarding the impact on their exams.
In light of the situation, the administration has decided to conduct the exams for the affected candidates again. According to the ADM City, the re-examination for the affected candidates at the Sitapura center will be held on September 5 at 3 PM. New re-admit cards will be issued to the relevant candidates. The administration is gathering information from the center supervisor regarding the entire incident and will submit a report to the board.
The NEET PG 2026 exam was conducted nationwide on Sunday, with a total of 272,183 candidates registered. In Jaipur, 15 examination centers were established. To ensure the exam was conducted peacefully and fairly, the administration implemented special security and law enforcement measures around the examination centers.
