Gandhinagar, June 27: The National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign is set to take place in Gandhinagar district on June 28, aiming to administer polio drops to over 158,000 children. Authorities have deployed thousands of health workers, hundreds of booths, and special outreach teams to ensure complete coverage.
The initiative seeks to protect 158,721 children aged 0 to 5 years by administering two drops of the polio vaccine. This extensive campaign will utilize a network of 746 vaccination booths across Gandhinagar, allowing parents to bring their children for vaccination on the designated day.
To reach children in remote and high-traffic areas, 103 mobile teams will be stationed at brick kilns, construction sites, and other underserved locations. Additionally, five transit teams will be deployed at bus stands, railway stations, and other public places to vaccinate traveling children.
A total of 3,167 health workers will participate in monitoring and implementing the vaccination campaign, ensuring coordination among booths, mobile units, and transit points.
Officials have also established a follow-up system for children who may miss the vaccination on the main day. On the second and third days of the campaign, 427 dedicated teams will conduct door-to-door surveys throughout the district to identify and vaccinate children who were not reached through the booth-based program, ensuring full coverage.
The district administration and health department urge parents to take all eligible children to the nearest polio booth on June 28. This aligns with the national slogan “Two Drops of Life,” contributing to efforts to maintain a polio-free nation.
