Mumbai, August 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for Kyrgyzstan on Sunday after a successful visit to Uzbekistan. At the airport, he was bid farewell by Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov.
On social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his gratitude towards Uzbekistan, stating, “Thank you, Uzbekistan!” He acknowledged the warmth, attention to detail, and personal commitment shown by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev towards India-Uzbekistan friendship.
The Ministry of External Affairs also announced on X that PM Modi has left Uzbekistan for the Kyrgyz Republic. The Prime Minister’s visit to Uzbekistan reaffirmed the deep and lasting ties between the two nations. In Kyrgyzstan, he will participate in the 26th SCO Leadership Summit and promote India’s constructive engagement with the region.
Additionally, PM Modi will attend the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan. Earlier, he held a ‘productive’ meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) reported on X that PM Modi’s meeting with President Mirziyoyev in Tashkent was fruitful. The India-Uzbekistan relationship has been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, energy, space, healthcare, trade, education, culture, youth exchanges, and other sectors.
During his state visit to Uzbekistan, PM Modi engaged in extensive discussions with President Mirziyoyev at the Kuksaroy Presidential Palace on topics including trade and investment, critical minerals, defense and security, innovation and startups, digital public infrastructure and UPI, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, education, tourism, space, and people-to-people relations.
PM Modi welcomed the progress made towards a long-term agreement for uranium supply from Uzbekistan to India and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in critical minerals.
