Noida, April 14: Protests by factory workers in Noida intensified for a second consecutive day on Tuesday. In the Garhi Chowkhandi area of Sector 121, demonstrators clashed with police, resulting in heightened tensions in the region.
To manage the situation, a significant number of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed. Reports indicate that in the morning, several factory employees took to the streets to protest. Police attempted to negotiate and clear the roads, but tensions escalated, leading to clashes between the two sides.
Protesters targeted police vehicles with stones at multiple locations. However, law enforcement acted swiftly to regain control and disperse the rioters. The administration had already been on high alert, conducting flag marches in industrial areas since 5 AM to prevent any untoward incidents. Continuous surveillance is being maintained in the area through CCTV cameras and drones.
Due to security concerns, most industrial units and companies remained closed today. Meanwhile, the state’s Director General of Police (DGP), Rajiv Krishna, has adopted a stern stance, stating that strict action will be taken against those involved in violence, arson, and damage to public property.
He clarified that individuals identified as rioters will be arrested, and they will be held accountable for damages to both public and private property. According to police reports, over 300 individuals have been arrested in connection with the unrest. Additionally, authorities are monitoring social media for misinformation and preparing legal action against those spreading rumors.
