Dispute Erupts Over Ambedkar Jayanti Statue Installation in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur, April 14: A dispute erupted in Lakhimpur Kheri during the celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti, centering around the installation of a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The conflict involved two factions from the same community, leading to a scuffle. The district administration has since taken control of the situation. District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police are present with a heavy police force.

Peace and normalcy have been restored in the area, with law and order fully under control. Authorities are maintaining vigilant oversight of the situation.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Western) Amit Kumar Rai reported that members of the Bhim Army were attempting to install a statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar at one location when another faction from the same community opposed it. This led to a struggle and scuffle between the two groups. Amid the chaos, some individuals, misled by rumors, began throwing stones at police personnel.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal, Superintendent of Police Dr. Khyati Garg, ADM Narendra Bahadur Singh, and ASP Pawan Gautam arrived on-site with a significant police presence to manage the situation. Security measures have been tightened in the area under the supervision of administrative officials.

The Additional Superintendent of Police further noted that some individuals were attempting to spread rumors to incite unrest among the same community. They have been issued strict warnings. Police are on-site, ensuring that peace is maintained. The situation is fully under control, with adequate police forces deployed to address any potential incidents.
