Tragic Incident in New Delhi: One Child Dies, Search Continues for Another in Yamuna River

New Delhi, April 14: A heartbreaking incident has emerged from the capital, New Delhi. Two young children faced a tragic accident while bathing in the Yamuna River. One child has lost his life, while the search for the other continues.

The incident occurred at Surghat in the Timarpur police area, where the river’s currents swept the two children away. Reports indicate that six friends had come to the Yamuna for a swim from Dairy Number 3, unaware that their fun would turn fatal.

While bathing, 13-year-old Dikshu and 11-year-old Pratap suddenly found themselves in deep water. Panic ensued among their friends as they witnessed both children struggling to stay afloat. Unfortunately, neither could be rescued in time.

When the families were informed, they rushed to the riverbank. Local divers and police were alerted, and both teams arrived promptly to commence the search. Divers scoured the river for about an hour and a half.

After considerable effort, the divers recovered Dikshu’s body from the Yamuna, but there has been no sign of Pratap. The area is now engulfed in mourning, with family members devastated by the tragedy. The Timarpur police are on-site, conducting a continuous search operation with the help of divers.

Dikshu’s father shared, “Our son Dikshu went to bathe in the Yamuna with other children when this accident occurred. We received the news around 3:00-3:30 PM. Many children go there regularly; what can we do? Parents can’t follow them everywhere.”

Meanwhile, Pratap’s mother mentioned that he usually goes to school, but he had a day off today. He is in the seventh grade. Friends who were with him reported that Pratap had drowned, and efforts to locate him are ongoing.
