Violence Erupts During Ambedkar Jayanti Rally in Madhya Pradesh, 14 Injured

New Delhi, April 14: Violence broke out during the Ambedkar Jayanti rally in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, injuring at least 14 people, including family members and police officers.

The conflict began when a Bolero vehicle parked along the route of the procession was not moved, leading to a heated argument between two groups. This disagreement quickly escalated into a clash. Participants in the rally vandalized the vehicle, igniting further violence in the town.

Amidst the chaos, around 50 masked individuals reportedly stormed the home of Mani Shukla (22), attacking family members. They threw stones and physically assaulted those present in the house.

Mani Shukla sustained serious injuries, and others, including Ramakant Shukla (80), Archana Shukla (40), and Divyansh Shukla (22), were also hurt, with two individuals suffering head injuries.

Later, a crowd of approximately 200 people attacked the Amiliya police station, vandalizing property and throwing stones. Damage was reported to the administrative office and the investigation room. Police station in-charge Rakesh Bes and his team attempted to control the situation, during which Constables Ramcharitra Pandey and Satish Tiwari were injured.

Senior officials, including District Collector Vikas Mishra, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. He reported that out of the 14 injured, eight have been discharged after treatment, while six remain hospitalized.

Authorities have filed an FIR regarding the incident and have initiated an investigation. The administration has urged the public to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumors.
