New Delhi, August 20: Residents of Ladakh will no longer need to travel to Jammu and Kashmir for justice. The central government has announced the establishment of a High Court bench in Ladakh, a significant move for the region. This information was shared by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the comprehensive development and constitutional security of Ladakh.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Amit Shah stated that under Prime Minister Modi‘s leadership, the Union Cabinet has decided to set up a High Court bench in Ladakh. This initiative will greatly improve access to justice for citizens living in remote areas, reducing the time required to obtain legal services.
The announcement has brought a sense of relief to the people of Ladakh. Previously, seeking justice meant traveling to Jammu and Kashmir, which posed numerous challenges. The government has recognized the difficulties faced by the residents and decided to establish a bench locally.
It’s important to note that when Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir became separate Union Territories, a joint High Court was created, operating from Jammu and Srinagar based on weather conditions.
