New Delhi, August 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party’s policy of “excessive appeasement” on Thursday. He stated that the Congress Working Committee’s decision to sing only two verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ is akin to repeating a historical mistake that sowed the seeds of division.
He recalled that in 1937, the Congress party split ‘Vande Mataram’ into two parts under the guise of appeasing Muslims, laying the groundwork for the country’s partition. This decision bolstered the two-nation theory, ultimately leading to the creation of Pakistan.
Shah condemned the Congress Working Committee’s decision, labeling it as “anti-national” and a blatant violation of laws enacted by Parliament.
He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rectified the Congress party’s 1937 decision, 80 years after India’s independence.
In a statement released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shah asserted that the public will no longer tolerate this reform’s opposition. The BJP firmly denounces Congress’s decision and is determined to oppose it both publicly and in legislative assemblies.
Questioning Congress’s patriotism, Shah argued that the party’s decision reinforces its appeasement policy. He expressed astonishment that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress is once again vigorously promoting appeasement politics in the country.
He urged citizens to remember the past mistake of dividing ‘Vande Mataram’ and the severe consequences that followed. Shah called for unity among the populace to raise their voices against Congress’s decision, making it clear that appeasement politics will no longer be tolerated.
