Jharkhand Candidates Protest Against Cancellation of JSSC-CGL Appointments

Ranchi, August 20: The movement against the cancellation of appointments made through the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam is intensifying. Hundreds of selected candidates gathered in Ranchi on Thursday to express their dissent against the government’s decision by organizing a Tricolor March.

The protesters demanded that the government retract its decision to cancel the exam. The march commenced around 6 PM from Morhabadi Ground, with candidates carrying the national flag and chanting slogans as they proceeded towards Albert Ekka Chowk.

During the march, candidates stated that they are not seeking to protect any guilty parties. Instead, they oppose the cancellation of appointments for thousands of selected candidates without a personal investigation. The demonstrators emphasized that they had successfully participated in the competitive exam process.

Many selected candidates had already joined various government departments after their appointments. Consequently, the cancellation of the entire exam has once again plunged them into unemployment. The candidates asserted that if any irregularities occurred during the exam, a fair investigation should be conducted, and action should be taken against those responsible. However, they argued that it is unjust to penalize all successful candidates collectively by canceling the entire exam.

Notably, the state government has decided to annul several recruitment exams, including the JSSC-CGL, based on findings from an investigation into alleged irregularities in competitive exams. As a result, the appointments of 1,975 selected candidates in the JSSC-CGL have been affected.

The candidates expressed that the cancellation of the exam poses not only a job crisis but also jeopardizes years of hard work, age, and future plans. Many had left other jobs to take up positions after their selection. Now, with the cancellation of their appointments, they find themselves back in a position of preparing for competitive exams.

The protesters clarified that their struggle is not against any political party. They are fighting for their employment and future security. They urged the government to identify and take action against those responsible for any actual irregularities in the exams and to provide relief to the deserving candidates.

Meanwhile, the issue of the cancellation of various recruitment exams, including the JSSC-CGL, has reached the Jharkhand High Court. Petitions challenging the government’s decision have been filed by successful and appointed candidates. The court has also imposed a temporary stay on the cancellation orders for the 11th to 13th Joint Civil Services Examination and the appointment of Food Safety Officers. Preparations are underway to file a petition concerning the JSSC-CGL as well.
