Greater Noida, August 20: The police from Surajpur station in Greater Noida have made a breakthrough in the theft case at the Om Shanti Service Center located in Malakpur village, arresting one suspect. Authorities recovered ₹46,250 in cash, a pistol used during the crime, and an unregistered Splendor motorcycle from the accused.
The arrested individual has been identified as Omkar, son of Bijender, a 24-year-old resident of FM-137, Kanshiram Colony, Sector JU-2, Dadri, Gautam Buddh Nagar. The police are now searching for his accomplice, Monu.
According to police reports, on August 13, 2026, two masked robbers arrived at the Om Shanti Service Center on a motorcycle. They threatened the employee present at the center with a weapon and fled with approximately ₹80,000 from the cash register.
Following the incident, the Surajpur police registered a case based on the victim’s complaint. They reviewed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. Using electronic surveillance, they gathered information on the suspects’ activities and potential hideouts. During the investigation, significant leads about Omkar emerged, leading to his arrest on August 20, 2026, from the service road in front of the ITBP.
During interrogation, Omkar revealed that he had visited the service center for a task before the robbery. He noticed the shop owner placing cash in the register and informed his accomplice, Monu. They devised a plan to rob the center. On August 13, when the owner stepped out and only his employee was present, they arrived on their motorcycle.
Both suspects wore helmets and had an extra shirt over their own to conceal their identities. They threatened the employee with a pistol and stole the ₹80,000 from the cash register before escaping on their motorcycle.
Police stated that the suspects fled towards the forest path beyond Malakpur village. Omkar confessed that he kept ₹60,000 from the stolen money, while he handed ₹20,000 to Monu. The police have recovered ₹46,250 from Omkar.
The investigation also revealed that the arrested suspect has a prior criminal record, with cases registered against him for theft, illegal liquor, possession of weapons, and other offenses in Dadri, Noida Sector-20, and Dankaur police stations. Authorities are currently conducting raids at potential locations to apprehend Monu.
