KCR to Lead Major Protest Against Congress Governments Neglect of Irrigation Projects

Hyderabad, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), who heads the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), is set to spearhead a significant movement against the Congress government’s alleged negligence towards key irrigation projects in Telangana. This announcement comes ahead of the Telangana Assembly session starting on Monday.

The decision was made during a BRS legislative party meeting at KCR’s farmhouse in Erravalli. T. Harish Rao, the deputy leader of BRS in the Assembly, accused the Congress government of deliberately withholding water from the Kaleshwaram project, despite its availability, causing distress among farmers.

Regarding the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, Harish Rao stated that the BRS government had completed 80 percent of the work. He claimed that upon completion, the project would secure 60 TMC of water, but the Congress government has abandoned it out of spite.

Harish Rao confirmed that KCR will lead a direct public movement involving millions to protest against the Congress government’s careless attitude towards these projects. He also outlined that the BRS will confront the government on various issues during the Assembly session, including the harassment of farmers through the inclusion of agricultural lands in the ‘prohibited list’ under Section 22A, power outages, failures in the loan waiver scheme, the cancellation of Polytechnic GO 97, and issues related to the Singareni scam, PRC, DA, and EHS.

He dismissed criticisms from the ruling Congress party regarding KCR’s absence from the Assembly, stating that there was no need for KCR to attend when faced with the crude language of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Harish Rao recalled instances in the past when leaders like NTR, Jayalalithaa, and Chandrababu Naidu boycotted the Assembly after being insulted, later returning as elected leaders.

He pointed out that while Revanth Reddy expresses concern over expenses for the opposition leader’s security, he spends 40 crores on providing four gunmen for his brother, Tirupati Reddy, who does not even hold a ward member position.

The BRS plans to raise the issue of outstanding fee reimbursements for 30 lakh students in the Assembly. Harish Rao challenged the Congress government to convene a month-long Assembly session for detailed discussions on public interest issues. The BRS will strongly advocate for this in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting.

In response to the Congress party’s demand for KCR’s resignation, Harish Rao suggested that Revanth Reddy should resign first for failing to fulfill his promises of ‘six guarantees’ and agricultural loan waivers.
