New Delhi, July 21: Union Health Minister JP Nadda stated on Tuesday that his meeting with members of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) was “good.”
On Monday, two representatives from the CJP met with Nadda at his residence. After an extensive discussion earlier in the day, they submitted a written memorandum outlining three main demands of the group.
When asked about the conversation with CJP members during his arrival at the NDA’s ‘Mangal Milan‘ event, Nadda remarked, “The discussion was good. Meetings are always productive.” However, he refrained from commenting on the “assurances” given to the protesters.
According to government sources, the initial meeting took place around 11:50 AM on Monday, during which the CJP delegation verbally presented their demands. Nadda requested them to provide a written version. The delegation returned around 4 PM to submit a detailed written memorandum.
CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka demanded the unconditional release of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of candidates who allegedly committed suicide following the NEET 2026 paper leak controversy.
Government sources indicated that Nadda did not provide any assurances regarding the three demands during the meeting. However, he urged the protesters to end their month-long sit-in at Jantar Mantar and assist the administration in restoring normalcy in the high-security area near Parliament.
Following the meeting, Nadda posted on X, stating, “For the first time, a proposal for dialogue from the protesters came forward, and our discussions have been ongoing since 11:50 AM. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. After an extensive verbal discussion with their delegation, they provided me with a written petition around 4 PM. I requested all protesters to conclude their sit-in and help restore normalcy.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, protesters remained at Jantar Mantar, continuing their demonstration. Violent clashes had occurred between security forces and protesters during the ‘March to Parliament’ on Monday.
After police removed the stage and tents from Jantar Mantar, protesters reclaimed the area. Following a call from the CJP to continue the protest, demonstrators began arriving at Jantar Mantar early Tuesday. A significant number of police and RAF personnel have been deployed at the site.
