New Delhi, July 21: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will conduct its first parliamentary meeting, named ‘Mangal Milan’, on Tuesday during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. This meeting aims to enhance coordination among the ruling coalition during the parliamentary session.
Scheduled for 9:30 AM at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library, the meeting will include MPs from all NDA allied parties in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the gathering.
Traditionally, the NDA parliamentary party meetings are held every Tuesday during each session of Parliament. However, this time, it has been branded as ‘Mangal Milan’. The coalition aims to give these regular parliamentary meetings a cultural and organizational identity through this new name.
This meeting comes at a time when the proceedings in both houses have been disrupted due to opposition uproar since the beginning of the monsoon session.
On Monday, opposition members staged strong protests during the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings, demanding discussions on various issues, including the NEET controversy, donations for the Ram Temple, protests by the CJP at Jantar Mantar, and E-20 petrol.
As soon as the Lok Sabha session commenced, opposition MPs began shouting slogans. Jagdambika Pal, present at the presiding chair, appealed for maintaining the dignity of the house and urged for calm, but the uproar continued.
Earlier, Dilip Saikia, also at the presiding chair, attempted to restore order in the house. He urged MPs to remain seated and allow zero hour discussions on critical national issues.
He stated, “This behavior is not good for democracy… Don’t you want the house to function?”
Despite these appeals, opposition MPs continued their protests, even reaching the well of the house. Due to the ongoing commotion, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned until 1 PM.
