Dehradun, September 16 (Patrika English News). Torrential rains wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun district, leaving at least 13 people dead and 16 missing in flood and rain-related incidents. Rescue operations are underway on a war footing to trace the missing and provide relief to the affected families.

According to officials, the disaster struck near Karligaard and Manjhara villages, about 3 km ahead of Sahastradhara, when sudden flooding and debris flow submerged 2–3 houses and several resorts. Rescue teams suspect that two to three people may still be trapped under the debris.
In another incident at Jhadipani, debris buried a house, killing one person and injuring another. Separately, the body of a student swept away near the Mussoorie diversion on Rajpur Road was recovered. One person also drowned in Bhagat Singh Colony, while two were reported to have been washed away near Shikhar Fall and another near Tapkeshwar. In Kalasi tehsil, a man died after being hit by falling rocks. On Canal Road, rising water levels swept away a house and damaged several others, though residents were safely evacuated.
Tractor Accident in Tons River
In Parval under Premnagar area, a tractor carrying about 15 people was washed away into the Tons river. So far, five bodies have been recovered during the ongoing search operation.
Damage to Public and Private Property
The District Disaster Operation Centre reported that apart from human casualties, 13 bridges, 10 culverts, 2 houses, 31 walls, 2 Amrit Sarovars, 12 fields, 12 canals, 21 roads, 7 drinking water schemes, 8 tanks, and 24 embankments were severely damaged across various blocks of Dehradun district.
Administration on Ground
District Magistrate Savin Bansal visited the worst-hit areas, including Maldevta, Sahastradhara, Manjayada, and Karli Gaad, to assess the situation. He assured affected families of all possible assistance. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh and CDO Abhinav Shah accompanied him during the inspection.
Chief Minister has directed officials to intensify rescue and relief efforts and ensure immediate support to the victims.
